Why This Role Matters

At Sarawood, activities are not treated like an extra. They are part of what makes life here feel engaging, social, and personal. As an Activities Assistant, you help residents stay connected to their interests, to one another, and to the simple routines that bring comfort and joy.

What You’ll Do

  • Help plan, organize, and lead daily activities for residents.
  • Support group programs such as games, crafts, music, conversation groups, light exercise, and seasonal events.
  • Spend one-on-one time with residents who benefit from more personal engagement.
  • Assist with outings, community trips, and transportation to appointments or personal errands as assigned.
  • Keep activity calendars, participation records, and schedules organized.
  • Set up and clean up activity spaces while helping create an inviting environment.
  • Adapt programs based on resident interests, abilities, and participation levels.
  • Work closely with caregivers, leadership, and other team members to support each resident’s daily experience.
  • Notice opportunities to encourage social connection and bring warmth into the day.

What We’re Looking For

  • You are dependable and show up with a positive attitude.
  • You enjoy spending time with older adults and know how to build trust through conversation and consistency.
  • You are creative enough to keep activities engaging without needing a large budget or elaborate setup.
  • You are patient, observant, and comfortable adjusting your approach for different personalities and needs.
  • You communicate well with residents, families, and coworkers.
  • You are organized enough to follow calendars, schedules, and simple documentation requirements.
  • Experience in activities, caregiving, hospitality, education, recreation, or senior services is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license is preferred if transportation support is part of your schedule.
  • You value teamwork and want to be part of a smaller community where your work is seen.

Schedule and Compensation

  • Pay range based on experience and fit.
  • Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available.
  • Some weekend availability may be needed based on the activity calendar and resident needs.
  • Schedules may include daytime hours, special events, outings, and occasional flexibility.
  • Supportive leadership and a smaller setting where communication is more direct.
